SYMPOSIUM PARTICIPANTS
More than 500 academic and community health clinicians, biomedical researchers, nurses, public health, policy and prevention professionals, and faculty are expected to participate in this year’s symposium along with other healthcare industry professionals.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
At the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
• Discuss overviews of several National Institutes of Health strategic plans for eliminating health disparities
• Discuss the emerging strategies of interdisciplinary research to eliminate health disparities
• Describe the importance of broad based, multidisciplinary research originating from bench to bedside to curbside to eliminate health disparities
• Describe program models which have been successful in receiving finding to eliminate health disparities
• Identify prospective collaborative partners for future interdisciplinary programs that address the elimination of health disparities
• Report reasons why clinical, basic science, training and community based research are integral components to eliminate health disparities
• Describe current technology and genomic modeling for eliminating health disparities
CONTINUING EDUCATION
The Morehouse School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. The Morehouse School of Medicine designates this continuing medical education activity for up to 5 hours in Category 1 credit of the Physician’s Recognition Award of the American Medical Association.*
Howard University Continuing Education has been reviewed and approved as an authorized provider of continuing education and training by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training and has agreed to provide CEUs for the Center of Excellence on Health Disparities Symposium, April 13-15, 2005. Participants may receive a maximum of 0.105 CEUs for this conference.*
Continuing Education clock hours will be offered for other health professionals by the Whitney M. Young, Jr. School of Social Work, Clark-Atlanta University.
*Separate CME/CE/CEUs will be awarded for the Community Physicians’ Network Satellite Workshop on April 16th.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
There is no fee for participating in the scientific activities during the Center of Excellence on Health Disparities Symposium. However, registration is required in order to obtain continuing education and to attend the symposium dinner. Please complete and return the Registration Form on page 8, indicating which activities you would prefer to attend as space is limited.
