Biostatistics and Data Management Core

The Biostatistics and Data Management Core (BDMC), Clinical Research Center (CRC), serves as a shared MSM resource in support of internal and external clinical research collaborations.   Biostatistics, data coordination, and data management are indispensable components of clinical research.  These core activities assure scientific merit and quality of research projects and are critically important to the overall productivity of any research program.

Personnel: The personnel providing technical support for research project development and conduct include:

Ahmad Al-Mahmoud, Ph.D., Biostatistician;  Keming Yuan, M.S., Information Specialist and Data Analyst; Ernest Alema-Mensah, M.S., D.Min., Database Administrator; Cliff Barksdale, B.S. Database Administrator; Pamela Daniels, M.P.H., M.B.A., Epidemiologist, Leslie Boone, MPH, Asst. Project Director, Corliss Heath, MPH, Program Coordinator; and Trobiand Davis, MPH, Research Assistant.

The specific objectives of the BDMC are:

1. To provide technical support and consultation in data collection methods, data entry, processing, and management.
2. To provide database administration support in creating and managing databases as shared resources in support of clinical research.
3. To provide biostatistical analysis and data analytical support
4. To provide consultation in study design, sampling, and sample size planning, statistical analyses planning, statistical analyses methodologies, and epidemiologic principles and methods.

Research Development Team (RDT): The RDT is an integral part of the BDMC providing assistance to faculty members in proposal development.  The RDT is composed of CRC section heads and core research staff, academic and clinical researchers, physicians and other health care providers.  The RDT is chaired by the CRC Associate Director and assisted by the BDMC Director.
