Principal Investigator: David Satcher, MD, PhD is the Interim President of Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) and Principal Investigator of the MSM RCRII Program. Dr. Satcher is the Director for the National Center for Primary Care and Principal Investigator of the MSM Center of Excellence for Health Disparities Research (CEHDR). A former U.S. Surgeon General and former Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Satcher is committed to efforts to eliminate healthcare disparities through effective community mobilization, and research translation.


Director: Dr. Elizabeth Ofili has an active interest in the mechanism of myocardial dysfunction with particular emphasis on the role of ultrasound imaging modalities. She received the Young Investigator Research Award early in her career for her work on the physiological stress agents in a canine model of coronary artery disease. In collaboration with Dr. Morton Kern, Dr. Ofili developed and validated the method of analysis of the intracoronary doppler spectral wave form used to study coronary flow reserve. She is recognized for her expertise in the field of echocardiography in clinical and population based trails.

Assistant Director for Administrative and Clinical Affairs: Priscilla Johnson, Ph.D., MSN. Dr. Johnson is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the CRC with special attention to administrative matters (i.e. budget negotiations, contracts, etc). She also utilizes her 15 plus years of nursing experience when working closely with the Nursing and Recruitment Cores, whether through skills validation or as an active resource.


Director of the BDMC & Assoc. Director of the MSCR Program, Alexander Quarshie, MD, MS: Oversees the research operations of the investigators, conducts monthly meetings with junior and senior investigators, looking at obstacles in grant and/or manuscript writing, and study design. Also coordinates and supervises the integration of CRC investigators with biostatisticians, epidemiologists, data management staff and the Research Cores staff.

Priscilla Pemu, MD, MS is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine and has funded in grants in META Health (Co-PI) NHLBI, CCRE (Project PI) NCRR, CPN Hypertension Registry (PI) Medtronic Foundation.
