The Clinical Research Center (CRC) was established in 1996 at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) in order to provide the infrastructure necessary for faculty at MSM to conduct clinical research. It was the first freestanding outpatient research facility of its kind in the nation to receive accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations.
The CRC is funded by an NIH grant to MSM with the MSM President and Director of the National Center for Primary Care (NCPC), serving as its Principal Investigator. The Dean of MSM, and the CRC Advisory Committee provide support for the direction of the CRC Program Director.
The Core Resources and Facilities provide comprehensive support for clinical investigation. These resources include fully equipped private examination rooms, a Noninvasive Cardiovascular and Hemodynamic Core Laboratory, Analytical and Protein Profiling Laboratory, a Biostatistical and Data Management Core, a Nursing Core, a Recruitment/Retention Core responsible for all study participant enrollment activities, and Bionutrition Core..
The Master of Science in Clinical Research (MSCR) postgraduate program is the signature educational program of the CRC which trains qualified medical specialists in clinical research under the umbrella of preventative medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, surgery and obstetrics and gynecology.
The Community Physicians Network facilitates the involvement of the minority community as well as the training of the Community Physicians in clinical research with the ultimate goal of reducing healthcare disparities.
