Goal or Purpose:


To determine how exercise can improve heart function in heart failure patients.

Inclusion Criteria:


Men and Women >18 yrs of age
Left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF) levels of < 35%
NYHA classifications of I, II, III or IV heart failure for the previous 3 months despite a minimum of 6 weeks of treatment
Must be stable by investigator judgment

Exclusion Criteria:


Men and Women < 18 yrs of age
Any disease, behavioral or other limitations that interfere with exercise training or prevent completion of 1 year exercise training
Pregnant or planning to become pregnant
Any major cardiovascular event or procedure within 6 weeks of study
Any future plans for hospitalization or cardiovascular procedure
Planning to receive a cardiac transplant within the next 6months
Heart failure secondary to significant uncorrected primary valvular disease Heart failure secondary to congenital heart disease or obstructive cardiomyopathy
Performing vigorous exercise training at regular intervals during the past 6 weeks
Wearing a fixed pacemaker or AICID device with heart rate limits set below target heart rate for exercise training
Participation in another clinical trial that infers with HF-action
