The Morehouse School of Medcine (MSM), Center of Excellence on Health Disparities was formed in 2002, under the leadership of Dr. David Satcher, Director and former United States Surgeon General, in response to MSM's mission of recruiting and training minority and other students as physicians, biomedical scientists, and public health practitioners
who are committed to research and the primary healthcare needs of the underserved. The School's goal is to increase the critical mass of talented research faculty pursuing health disparities research training in biomedicine and provide the research infrastructure needed for investigators to pursue excellence in the 21st century.
The Core staff of the Administrative Component of the Center consists of the: Center Director, Deputy Director, Assistant Project Director, Grants Administrator, and Administrative Assistant. In addition to the Administrative Core, two advisory committees have been established to provide advice to the management team, which are the External Advisory Committee (EAC) and Steering Committee.
