The Mission of the MCH team is: to enhance the understanding of specific maternal and child health areas of disparity, and address them…

  • Identification of potential contributors to the health disparities
  • Collaboration within the MSM with faculty and staff sharing research interests
  • Collaboration outside of the MSM to form national alliances to address the targeted MCH issues
  • Conduction of Clinical Practice Based Research to determine changes in practice which may address identified contributors to the MCH health disparities
  • Train providers to use identified new knowledge and translate it into practice to impact the MCH outcomes.
The Vision of the MCH team is: to become nationally recognized for our focus on, through research and information dissemination, the areas of Maternal and Child Health disparities.

The NCPC goals by which our Core is being developed and are currently meeting are:

A. To be a resource center promoting excellence in primary care practice, research and technology.

B. To promote excellence in community outreach programs in and with communities to promote health and prevent disease.

C. To influence health policy by establishing a nationally recognized institute to identify and address policies related to primary care practice and disparities in health.

D. To reform and advance the curricula of medical, nursing and other health profession schools and for all of those who are involved in the helping professions as it relates to issues of maternal and child health…maintaining a gold standard replicable model.
