The
Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology is a basic science
department whose primary mission is: 1) to enable the Pharmacology
& Toxicology research faculty to be involved in competitive
research that is recognized at the national and international
level, 2) to educate and develop graduate students in pharmacological
& toxicological research that will enable them to become independent
investigators, and 3) to enhance our teaching skills in the two
department medical school courses, such that the medical students
achieve nationally competitive scores on the mini-boards and part
on of the medical board exam.
The
mission of the Pharmacology & Toxicology Department:

To disseminate accurate, conceptual knowledge about the rational
therapeutic use of drugs to medical students

To educate and train graduate students in the principles of
pharmacology and/or toxicology

To acquire new knowledge about drugs through meaningful research

To perform services that will facilitate the mission of Morehouse
School of Medicine
