Philosophy
Philosophy – The philosophy of the Department embraces the
pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, excellence and service via a synthesis
of educational, clinical and research programs. There is an emphasis
on training minority professionals in the bio-psychosocial model.
A combination of public and private facilities is used to expose
the residents and students to a variety of patient populations
and psychiatric disorders throughout training.

of psychiatry, with emphasis on community psychiatry and service
in the public sector.
- To
provide postgraduate residency training in psychiatry at the
interface of psychiatry and primary care medicine.
- To
promote scholarly activity, community education and meaningful
research.
