Research Symposium

In recognition of the 20th Anniversary of the NIH Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI), The Morehouse School of Medicine RCMI Program in conjunction with the Center of Excellence on Health Disparities is planning a full-day research symposium entitled, CANCER: From Bench to Bedside to Community on November 11, 2005. The symposium will focus on bridging the gap between discoveries made by basic "lab bench" scientists and "bedside" physicians attending the sick. This "bench to bedside" approach has led to advances in the care of patients with a wide variety of diseases, from cancer and cardiovascular diseases to multiple sclerosis and diabetes.

An Annual Event

We plan to make this symposium an annual event highlighting a different research area at MSM each year. It is envisioned that this symposium will provide a forum to focus on the scientific advances of the MSM RCMI program and other related funding successes. In addition, this will provide opportunities for MSM and other investigators in a specific focus area of research to attend workshops, network, and establish collaborations which will leverage the RCMI funding provided for the development of research.
