Turtle Lore
For thousands
of years and in many different cultures, the turtle was
seen as medicine for fertility and was associated with the
power to heal female diseases.
In the Greek mythology the turtle was
considered the feminine power of the waters. It was also
an emblem of Aphrodite - Goddess of Fertility.
For Native Americans the thirteen patterns
on the turtle's shell represented the thirteen cycles of
the thirteen moons and the fertility periods of females.
A new moon is born every 28 days!
In West African tribes the turtle appears in fertility rites,
representing the feminine to the serpent's masculine power.
The turtle has also been utilized to
represent the "Eternal Mother", "Divine Mother",
"Womb of All", and "Protector of Mature Wombs
that turn into Life".
The fertile turtle is also an image
of determinedness, patience and ability to navigate through
life. The turtle shell protects you like the protection
of Mother Earth.
