About MPH

Introduction

The Morehouse School Medicine Master of Public Health Program focuses on providing unique opportunities for students to become engaged in community-based participatory research, student-directed learning, problem solving and the development of skills and competencies essential to the practice of public health.

Public Health is concerned with improving and maintaining the general health of the community. The primary sciences of public health are epidemiology and biostatistics. These are the fundamental principles that undergird public health research and are derived from the biological, social, behavioral and physical sciences . Our program teaches these principles and students learn how to assess community health needs, design interventions, and implement, manage and evaluate programs. Our program has a specific focus in addressing the needs of underserved populations. The graduate program in Public Health collaborates with other departments within the School of Medicine, Clark Atlanta University and the Interdenominational Theological Center.
