Academic/Curriculum
The MPH Program is dedicated to ensuring that all MPH students have a strong public health knowledge base through a curriculum that includes:
- Core Courses
- Track Concentrations
- Practicum Experience
- Culminating Experience
- Public Health Leadership Seminars
- Career/Personal Development Workshops
- Quantitative & Qualitative Labs
- Academic Writing Workshops
All MPH students must complete the eight (8) required Core Courses. The knowledge acquisition of students is evaluated through a combination of written class assignments, oral presentations, examinations and/or papers. Students must attain a letter grade of B or higher in each core course. In addition, across each track students are required to complete four (4) Track-specific required courses. In these courses, students are also required to attain a letter grade of B or better. Students have the opportunity to integrate and apply the skills obtained in their required coursework through participation in a supervised Practicum Experience (480 hours) and must complete a Culminating Experience (thesis or manuscript). In addition, through the Public Health Leadership Seminars, national and international experts in Public Health provide lectures on various topics throughout the year. Currently, students are required to attend ten (10) lectures per year as part of the training in Public Health. |
