Special Events

It was 31 years ago when Morehouse School of Medicine was founded in the basement of Morehouse College. This year corporations, foundations and other donors will come together in a week of celebrations for the 31 years of accomplishments that have occurred at the School.

On June 5, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. a special convocation announcing a Historic Collaboration between Morehouse School of Medicine and Three Preeminent Mental Health Advocates: William H. Cosby Jr., Ed.D., Educator, Entertainer, Philanthropist; Alvin F. Poussaint, M.D., Renowned Psychiatrist and David Satcher, M.D., Ph.D., Presidnet and 16th U.S. Surgeon General. The event was held in the Louis W. Sullivan National Center for Primary Care Auditorium, with a reception that followed in the E. Ginger Sullivan Atrium.

One of the special events took place was the Morehouse School of Medicine 31st Anniversary Founder's Day Scholarship Luncheon. The Luncheon featured Bill Cosby and was held 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 in the Grand Ballroom at the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta Hotel (Downtown). This fundraising event provided scholarship supported for students at Morehouse School of Medicine.

Another event that took place was the MSM National Alumni Association Fifth Annual Charity Golf and Tennis Tournament. This event Co-Chairs were Hank & Billye Aaron and was held Monday, May 1, 2006 at the Eagle's Landing Country Club, Stockbridge, Georgia. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship Fund Since many of our students graduate with debt in excess of $100,000.
