Welcome to the Morehouse School of Medicine
(MSM)
Research Centers in Minority Institutions Program (RCMI) website.
Major support for the biomedical research infrastructure
of MSM is received through the RCMI Program, which is
sponsored by the National Centers for Research Resources of the National
Institutes of Health. State of the art biomedical research
technology cores, shared use facilities, and other resources
(e.g., Division of Information Technology Services - DITS) at
MSM have been developed with RCMI funds for use by our scientific
investigators. RCMI support has also facilitated the development
of several areas of research focus at the institution (e.g.,
cardiovascular disease, HIV/AIDS, neuroscience, reproductive
biology, and molecular immunology).
The RCMI Program has made an incalculable contribution to the
ability of the MSM faculty to do research. MSM has experienced
dramatic increases in the parameters that are most commonly
used to measure research capacity and productivity (i.e., amount
of research space; number of grants; amount of research funding;
number of research associates; number of research faculty; number
of peer reviewed publications). The RCMI program has
been the key in this remarkable development of biomedical
research capacity and productivity at MSM.
