  • BE PREPARED! BE READY! RESPOND!
On July 28, 2005 Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness held a Bioterrorism drill in which the SVP program participated.
The volunteers were needed to help Fulton County build a stronger emergency response plan to a bio-terrorist attack or medical emergency.  The goal for the drill was to see if the 5 metro Atlanta public health districts could screen and supply antibiotic pills to at least 250 people an hour at each of the 9 Metro Atlanta locations.  There were over 2000 participants in the drill.  The drill was said to be successful.
  • August 10, 2005, there was a volunteer appreciation reception held at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Atlanta.  The program received a proclamation from the City of East Point in recognition of the program, and our efforts.
  • New volunteer opportunities are available for students.  Long term and one time events, if interested please contact Tiffany Simmons at 404-752-8451.
  • May 4, 2005 we had our annual first year medical student presentations, where the students presented their testimony of their community health service intervention project.   The guests included legislatures from the state and the city.  After the presentation there was a short reception in which the students talked to the legislatures about policy implications of their service projects.  The event was deemed successful.
