The Morehouse School of Medicine General Surgery Residency Program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).  All candidates interested in applying to the program must register with the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).  All applicants must submit the following through ERAS:

  1. Universal Application
  2. Medical School Transcript
  3. Personal Statement
  4. Dean’s Letter
  5. Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
  6. United States Medical Licensing Examination (USLME) Scores – Step I and Step II
  7. Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate – if applicable
  8. Photograph
    • Applicants who have completed previous residencies must provide a letter from their current Program Director assessing their clinical performance in the program.
    • Deadline for Applications – Applications must arrive by December 15.  We encourage you to process your applications prior to December 15.
    • Interviews – Due to the large volume of applicants, everyone will not be invited for an interview.  In the event you are selected as a prospective candidate, we will contact you via the ERAS system to schedule an interview. Interviews generally are conducted from November – January.
