Grady
Memorial Hospital – Located
in the heart of downtown Atlanta, GA, Grady Memorial Hospital serves
Fulton and Dekalb counties. Grady is the primary hospital for the
underserved population serving the two largest metropolitan Atlanta
counties established in 1892. Grady is a 1,017-bed hospital with
all components of surgery. Residents encounter a heavy trauma population,
as well as many unusual acute and chronic pathologic conditions.
Included in our resident rotations are all the subspecialty services:
Otolaryngology, Urology, Orthopedics Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine,
Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Surgical Intensive Care Unit and Thoracic
Surgery.

| Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite – Located in North Atlanta, this 195 bed pediatric facility provides essential experience in pediatric surgery to our intermediate residents (PGY 3) during their 2 months rotation. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite is recognized for excellence in cardiology, cancer treatments, and transplant services. It has recently undergone a major expansion with an updated ER and a new ambulatory surgical center. Annual ER visits is in excess of 30,000. Hernias head and neck anomalies, omphalocele repairs, hydrocelectomies, and abdominal exploration for abscess constitute the bulk of the operative exposure. Here our residents’ pediatric surgical experience is composed of emergency care, in-patient services and outpatient services. A significant endoscopic experience is also available. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite is a level 1 Trauma Center. |

South Fulton Medical Center – Founded
in 1963, South Fulton Medical Center has kept pace with the dynamic
growth of the region, expanding from a small community-base hospital
to a 356-bed acute care facility with a staff of 1400, more than 500
physicians and active auxiliary. South Fulton Medical Center is the
largest employer in East Point, and ranks in the 10% in size of more
than 200 Georgia hospital. In 1998, we served more than 10,900 inpatients,
approximately 41,000 outpatients, and provided emergency care to 42,000.

Columbus Medical Center – The
Columbus Medical Center is a full service 417-bed modern facility
run by the Columbus Regional Healthcare System, Inc. The Medical
Center is located in Columbus, GA, approximately 90 miles south
of Atlanta. The medical center functions as a regional trauma center
for the 13-county EMS Region 7. A regional high risk nursery covering
a 38 county southwest Georgia area is operational. The Columbus
Medical Center continues to provide indigent care. The spectrum
of trauma patients cared for breaks out into 60% blunt and 40% penetrating.
There is also a high volume of elective surgery on patients with
many of the routine general surgical problems.
