Welcome to the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at Morehouse School of Medicine. Our program mission is to identify and train physicians to improve the gastroenterology care of the underserved communities.

The Gastroenterology fellowship will recruit trainees from all racial, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds who have a heart for service and have a demonstrated interest in health equity, in part through caring for patients in underserved and under-resourced communities, particularly communities of color. This is in keeping with the essence of our institutional and program mission.

 This program aims:

  • To educate physicians in the necessary skills and knowledge to provide expert care in gastroenterology

  • To develop physicians’ ability to critically appraise medical literature, to conduct clinical studies and participate in scholarly activity.

  • To train all aspects of procedural competence.

  • To provide high quality patient-centered care.

Our program is in a racially, ethnically, and economically diverse city that is also diverse in gender identity and sexual orientation. Training will occur in hospitals and ambulatory settings with similarly diverse faculty and personnel.  Our faculty and  fellows will participate in didactic activities at all levels of training to include lectures, conferences, courses, labs, asynchronous learning, simulations, case discussions, grand rounds, didactic teaching, and education in critical appraisal of medical evidence.
