Morehouse School of Medicine Strategic Plan
Overview
We as a MSM community have developed a shared vision and a way forward that leverages the strengths of our past and present yet spells out an extraordinary future toward the creation and achievement of health equity and health justice, and lasting relevancy. Our strategic plan relied on the input of every member of our MSM family to define this strategic journey.
Throughout the development of the strategic plan, we asked all the members of our MSM community to imagine what’s possible. As a result, we’re now poised to meet the challenge of our new shared vision: Leading the creation and advancement of health equity to achieve health justice.
Having experienced tremendous growth fueled by our last strategic plan, here’s what we learned during the year-long process of developing our new strategic plan.
- We looked within, focusing attention on solving infrastructure challenges. Nearly 50% of people surveyed said “infrastructure” challenges were the No. 1 priority at MSM.
- We recognized that MSM 2.0 must focus on community impact. The next level must include our ability to clearly show how what we and our partners do together positively impacts the health and wellness on those of whom we serve.
- We declared that we must embrace and monetize our thought leadership. The pandemic taught us a lot. Chief among the lessons was what we know, and do, have value. Monetary value. We should package it, teach others how to apply it, learn lessons and perfect it and grow our enterprise in pursuit of our North Star.
- We revised our mission statement, vision statement, and core values to account for health justice, because we have learned that equity without justice is incomplete.
