Morehouse School of Medicine Associate Dean for Community Engagement Launches FY 2016 Strategies
As the newly appointed Associate Dean for Community Engagement, Tabia Henry Akintobi, PhD, MPH, will collaboratively lead the centralization of new and existing community engaged
initiatives (CEIs). These efforts will improve institutional linkages and community
engaged capacity building as aligned with the institution's mission and strategic
plan. Fiscal Year 2016 priorities include development of an inventory and web portal
that details the depth and breadth of CEIs (research, clinical, service, education,
training and other collaboratives) institution-wide. The inventory will support increased
efficiency in the identification of institutional collaborators towards reduced duplication
and strengthened community presence. Through a regularly updated web portal and Geographic
Information System mapping, external partners, including community residents, will
have a centralized mechanism by which to identify the leaders, roles, relationships
and reach representing what community engagement means at Morehouse School of Medicine.
