Community Meeting “What Your DNA Can Do for You”

Do you have experiences related to your DNA or health-related research that you want to share? We invite metro-Atlanta community residents and beyond to join us for a special evening dinner session to learn the facts about DNA and arm their families with information for better health. What is genomics?

Genomics describes the study of a person's genes (the genome), including interactions of those genes with each other and with our environment. Genomics includes the scientific study of complex diseases such as heart disease, asthma, diabetes, and cancer because these diseases are typically caused more by a combination of inherited characteristics and environmental factors than by individual genes.

 

Town Hall Purpose

NHGRI Town Halls are being held across the nation as efforts to gather input from the broader research and public communities. Insights will be used to help shape the 2020 strategic plan outlining the 2020 vision for genomics. In developing the strategic plan, NHGRI aims to be the driving force for highly impactful and broadly applicable progress in genomics that empowers the efforts of other individuals and organizations.
