Program Mission
Our mission is to train psychiatric Residents to provide excellent and quality health care to all, especially the underserved. The Psychiatry Residency Program is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience that prepares psychiatrists to meet the demands of contemporary psychiatric practice. Emphasis is placed on the development of psychiatrists who have acquired their knowledge, skills, and competencies predominantly through community-based learning experiences. This is a novel approach because our Residents gain a significant amount of experience in the community as opposed to traditional residency programs that may focus more on the hospital environment. The program allows Residents the opportunity to explore the many facets of psychiatric care.
